A LBM no congresso da ABRATES

Nos últimos três dias, estive totalmente fora do radar, dedicada intelgralmente à participação no VI Congresso Internacional da ABRATES. Este ano, ele foi realizado na nossa fantástica selva de pedras paulistana – uma excelente escolha, sem dúvida!

Neste post, quero compartilhar com vocês alguns highlights do congresso como participante, na esperança de dar maiz voz ao que achei muito legal e também dar uma noção a quem não pôde comparecer.

Em primeiro lugar, foi uma oportunidade incrível para mim de conhecer pessoalmente o coordenador pedagógico da ACME, o João Artur. Para quem não lembra, eu abril a ACME e a LBM ofereceram em parceria um webinário sobre tradução para cinema. O webinário, realizado num cabisbaixo domingo à noite, teve uma aceitação muito bacana entre os participantes, sendo a maior prova disto este log do finalzinho do evento, com destaque especial para a menção pouco honrosa ao Faustão:

Um pouco off-topic, mas relevante: em breve o webinário estará disponível em VOD para quem não conseguiu assistir no dia 🙂

Ainda sobre a ACME, quero também destacar o mais que agradável mixer exclusivo que tivemos com alunos, professores e colaboradores. Foi super!

Voltando ao congresso, naturalmente estava muito atenta à programação sobre tradução audiovisual, que estava um tanto escassa. Tivemos a apresentação do João sobre o processo de legendagem e mercado de trabalho, muito informativa e esclarecedora (a legião de fãs famintos após a apresentação falou por si só rs). Logo após, tivemos a apresentação do Capitão Israel sobre o vocabulário específico usado em filmes e séries de guerra. Eu já havia tido o prazer e privilégio de participar de um workshop muito semelhante dado por ele em outro evento de tradução – quem assistiu sabe como são úteis todas aquelas dicas. O melhor ainda é poder contar posteriormente com a ajuda dele quando você não tem a menor ideia do que está escrevendo quando um Chefe do Estado Maior diz ao General de Brigada que vai enviar os paraquedistas (eu certamente não saberia escrever essa frase com consciência do seu conteúdo se não fosse pelo Capitão Israel!).

Senti muita falta de pessoas falando sobre dublagem, audiodescrição, voice-over, closed caption e cinema também. Fica o comprometimento para uma maior colaboração minha e da LBM para a ala audiovisual no congresso do ano que vem.

Com apenas essas duas comunicações sobre a minha especialidade, tive muitas oportunidades de sapear pela programação e quero comentar em especial duas apresentações que me agradaram muito. A primeira é a da pesquisadora de Santa Catarina Marina Piovesan. Ela nos falou sobre a sua pesquisa de mestrado, que realiza junto à delegacia do turista em Santa Catarina. Segundo ela, nessa delegacia, dedicada ao atendimento ao turista, não há suporte para que os turistas estrangeiros sejam ouvidos. Suporte = tradutor/intérprete. Sim. Estrangeiros que foram roubados, furtados, assaltados, sofreram violência ou danos de várias naturezas não encontram na delegacia um profissional que gere um boletim de ocorrência decente, confiável ou sequer legível. Como é feito? Google translator, gestos, chama o comerciante árabe da esquina ou simplesmente não é feito. Não por acaso, a maioria dos casos não é julgado e vai para a gaveta. O esforço da Marina é no sentido de criar um modelo de extração de narrativa que possa ser implantado nas delegacias e, obviamente, chamar a atenção para o fato de que um profissional de tradução/interpretação com conhecimento da linguagem jurídica é indispensável lá dentro. Dá para imaginar toda a pressão e opressão que ela está enfrentando para levar a cabo um projeto desses, então eu quero expressar aqui toda a minha admiração e encorajamento.

Numa reviravolta mais feliz, hoje assisti a uma apresentação que conquistou meu coração. A carismática Carolina Walliter falou sobre “coworking e os tradutores na vanguarda da nova era de trabalho”. Grande entusiasta desses modernos e ‘conectantes’ locais de trabalho, ela ofereceu muitas vantagens, contou sua experiência pessoal e ofereceu motivos sócio-históricos muito atraentes para que o tradutor faça sua adesão a essa nova forma de networking. Será o coworking o responsável pelo fim da alienação imposta ao homem pela vida de trabalho incessante? É, no mínimo, uma discussão muito interessante. Seu website, o Pronoia Tradutória, ainda está em construção, mas em breve trará mais informações e reflexões acerca do coworking para tradutores.

Uma última coisa que vale a pena ser mencionada foi a campanha da organização do congresso para expor as associações de tradutores e intérpretes. Organizações como o SINTRA, a APIC e a própria ABRATES estão em busca de novos associados para fortalecer nossa profissão. O SINTRA é uma referência para nós na LBM, pois fazemos uso diário dos valores de referência por ele estabelecido. Eles também estão numa batalha importantíssima para trazer o tradutor para a categoria do simples, para que paguemos MUITO menos impostos. O SINTRA é nosso sindicato e o único que pode de fato nos representar diante das autoridades governamentais. A ABRATES e outras associações também são boas para nos colocar em contato com a classe e clientes. A ABRATES, a maior delas no nosso âmbito nacional, também oferece benefícios a mais (o congresso sendo um deles) e está com projetos bem bacanas, como plano de saúde para os associados. Uni-vos, tradutores!

Depois desses três dias, é bem verdade que eu poderia dormir mais três dias. A gente não se dá conta do quanto de energia se gasta com andanças, a atenção às palestras, os batepapos. Mas vale muito a pena. Quero deixar um caloroso agradecimento em especial para João, Patrícia, Paulo, Renato e Luis pela excelente companhia (faltou o beijo pro sócio-pai e para a Xuxa).
