Após o descanso da semana passada, voltamos para estreia da semana. “Pô, ratinho tirou férias, maneiro!” Quem nos dera! As preparações para o Festival do Rio e a Mostra de SP consumiu todo o nosso tempo e energia.
O Festival do Rio já está rolando desde a semana passada, com cinco filmes superbacanas assinados por nós. Vamos guardar os comentários de TAV para as datas de estreia em circuito nacional, mas já podemos adiantar os títulos para vocês. No gênero documentário nacional, você pode assistir a “Maria – Não se Esqueça que Eu Venho dos Trópicos”. Já na ficção nacional, os filmes “Legalize Já” e “Motorrad” estão marcando presença com nossas legendas em inglês. Para finalizar, atacamos também com dois gringos: “Patti Cake$” e “Logan Lucky – Roubo em Família”.
E hoje estamos aqui para falar deles mesmos, os Logan azarados. A estreia do filme no festival chegou também com a estreia nacional. Parece que estamos com mais sorte que os Logan!

O filme, distribuído aqui no Brasil pela Diamond Films, já recebeu boas críticas da imprensa e acreditamos que vai conquistar o público também. Segundo o crítico youtuber Chris Stuckmann, o grande mérito do filme está na sua fotografia impecável e na despretensão em ser o melhor filme do diretor, que decidiu retornar com um filme de apelo mais comercial. Para mais detalhes, sem spoilers, vejam a crítica abaixo (em inglês).
Apesar de muito se falar na volta bem-sucedida de Soderbergh da sua pseudo-aposentadoria, achamos mesmo que o grande milagre desse filme foi fazer Adam Driver e Channing Tatum parecerem irmãos de verdade. Olha isso!
“Logan Lucky” foi um filme que nos permitiu muita liberdade criativa na tradução, o que é sempre uma satisfação. Os personagens da Virgínia Ocidental tinham um sotaque e um jeito de falar muito peculiar, o que obviamente não conseguimos reproduzir no português. Lembrando o post do Paulo há algumas semanas, não podemos ter a pretensão de passar tudo do original para o nosso texto. No entanto, esse nem deve ser o objetivo, pois o produto audiovisual fala muito por si só, colaborando para que a legenda não precise comportar todas as informações. Para além de legendas, o próprio roteiro do filme tem que tomar cuidado com o excesso de falas, para não se tornar redundante diante da imagem do filme. Alguma vez você já sentiu que um filme estava tratando você como idiota, com os personagens verbalizando coisas que você claramente já tinha entendido de alguma outra forma? Pois é.
Sendo assim, embora não tenha sido possível ficar reproduzindo cada maneirismo da fala de cada personagem, usamos de um mecanismo de compensação que é espalhar pelo texto algumas coloquialidades. Por exemplo, em algum momento, jogamos ali um “vambora!”. O texto escrito é tão impactante que uma fala mais coloquial pode definir o tom de uma personagem para o filme inteiro. #ficaadica
Quem assistir ao filme nos cinemas vai poder conferir muitas legendas legais. No entanto, o mais peculiar do filme não está registrado nas telonas. Os bastidores deixaram histórias para contar. A grande verdade é que o Soderbergh é o maior control freak da indústria cinematográfica. Como o Chris contou no vídeo ali em cima, ele assina a fotografia dos seus filmes como Peter Andrews. Chris também desconfia que a roteirista Rebecca Blunt seja mais um de seus pseudônimos.
Venho aqui apresentar a teoria da LBM: Soderbergh tem ainda um terceiro pseudônimo, o responsável pelo som de seus filmes, Larry Blake. Mas vamos voltar um pouco no tempo. Ninguém sabe, mas o diretor controla a tradução dos seus filmes em todos os territórios onde ele é distribuído. Já sabíamos disso desde a ocasião da legendagem de “Terapia de Risco”. Seus filmes vêm com documentos de orientação para tradução para legendagem e dublagem, e também a montagem do DCP. Além disso, recebemos um documento chamado KWP (Key Words and Phrases), que contém todas as frases que ele considera cruciais para o entendimento do filme. Nesse documento, que é de fato uma planilha, devemos colocar as soluções de tradução que demos para essas frases e depois traduzir nossa tradução para o inglês. Esse processo se chama backtranslation, e não é nada simples. Mas trabalhar com Soderbergh não é uma tarefa para qualquer um.
Voltando à nossa teoria conspiratória, esses documentos todos foram assinados pelo seu diretor de som, Larry Blake. As orientações eram longas e, como tradutora principal do filme, eu segui firme na leitura, até que me deparei com um item que dizia: “Special: To verify that this long document has indeed been read in its entirety, please stop reading right now and e-mail me at ***, with Special Prize in the subject field. I will let you know what that prize is when I get your e-mail.” Resumão: se você está lendo isso mesmo, me mande um e-mail agora que vou te dar um prêmio.
Intrigada, enviei um e-mail para o tal endereço reclamando meu prêmio. Claro que eu esperava que me dissessem que eu não estava fazendo mais do que a minha obrigação, o que era verdade. No entanto, para a minha surpresa, meu e-mail foi respondido pelo próprio Larry, que me prometeu uma cópia do seu novo livro!
Bom, vocês podem imaginar que eu estou aguardando esse livro ansiosamente. Continuando o e-mail, ele me perguntou como estava a tradução e se o KWP já tinha chegado até mim. Eu respondi toda pomposa com muitos detalhes, e nunca mais tive resposta. Pesquisando sobre o tal Larry, fui descobrir que sua situação existencial era a mesma da Rebecca Blunt no IMDB: nenhuma foto ou bio, apenas uma lista de créditos enorme de filmes do Soderbergh. Será possível que Soderbergh tenha se comunicado comigo por e-mail e me prometido uma cópia do seu livro? Cenas do próximo capítulo.
Após a entrega das legendas e dos documentos preenchidos, mais um fato engraçado. O documento foi de fato totalmente revisado por nosso amigo Larry, que destacou algumas poucas soluções das nossas legendas e escreveu um grande “NOOOO!” ao lado, explicando como deveria ser. É claro que, a princípio, ficamos um pouco ofendidos, mas depois demos muita risada e conseguimos fazer substituições a contento.
O documento de orientação também determinava que assinaturas não podiam aparecer antes do final dos créditos, então ficou por último mesmo. Comparecemos à sessão feita para a imprensa para checar nossas legendas e ficamos até o final. Pouca gente vai ver, mas nós sabemos <3 Obrigada ao pessoal da Diamond pelo convite!
