Hoje o ratinho chega trazendo para vocês a estreia apavorante da semana: “Amityville – O Despertar”. O filme estreou ontem com boas críticas por toda parte, o que, convenhamos, não é feito fácil de se atingir em se tratando de um filme de terror!

A Carol Moreira fez a crítica dela a “It – A Coisa” e “Amityville – O Despertar” num só vídeo, nos dando já um bom panorama sobre os dois filmes e o que pode dar certo ou errado em filmes de terror em relação ao público leigo:

Recalque do ratinho por não ter traduzido "It"? Talvez.

O motivo para a boa aceitação é uma série de fatores que, combinados, resultam num bom filme do gênero. A tradução audiovisual pode ajudar ou atrapalhar um filme de terror?

Vamos começar pelo elenco de peso da vila da Amity, impressionante para um filme de terror: Jennifer Jason Leigh, diva de terror dos anos 90; Jennifer Morrison, que passou de serviçal de monstro em “House” a monster herself em “Era Uma Vez” (spoiler!); Bella Thorne, nova queridinha do rolê hollywoodiano; Cameron Monaghan, que andou fazendo boas séries como “Gotham” e “Shameless”; e a baixinha McKenna Grace que, como já disse a Carol Moreira, mandou horrores (ah, a infâmia!) no filme e já está com um currículo filmográfico invejável para quem ainda está aprendendo a tabuada na escola.

Mckenna sem dúvida sabe a tabuada melhor que nós, tradutores.

Bom, mas elenco firmeza não põe mesa (alguém viu “As Duas Faces da Lei” com Robert e Al? G-zuis). Filme de terror bom tem que ter suspense na medida e sustos genuínos. Tudo isso se consegue através de elementos cinematográficos específicos, os quais já começamos a discutir aqui no blog (leia aqui). A música, por exemplo, é essencial nos filmes de terror. A música não pode entregar o jumpscare, ficando mais tensa logo antes de um acontecimento chave.

Um bom jumpscare de Amityville! Sorry not sorry.

De forma semelhante, precisamos evitar certas mancadas na tradução. Uma delas é usar palavras meio, digamos, “bobas”, que podem tirar a seriedade do filme. Por exemplo, quem leva a palavra “malvado” a sério, ainda mais depois de “Meu Malvado Favorito”? “Maligno” ou “diabólico” parecem opções mais tensas e que não estragam a experiência do leitor.

Passando para a acessibilidade, uma coisa é certa: é delicado escrever um roteiro de audiodescrição sem adiantar os sustos, de forma a não interferir na experiência do público com deficiência visual. Encontrar os momentos certos para inserir as descrições e torná-las críveis não é bolinho. Além disso, para este filme especificamente, procuramos referências em audiolivros e radionovelas para dar um tom especial à audiodescrição. Afinal, ela se soma ao filme e ajuda a contar a história e, convenhamos, nada mais legal que uma voz trevosa e no tom certo pra dar vida a cada detalhe do filme.
